Warning Signs: Do You Need a Brake Check?
If you notice any of the following symptoms, call Peter Jones immediately. Ignoring these warning signs puts your safety—and your engine—at risk.
Squealing or Squeaking: Often the first sign that your brake pads are worn down to the wear indicators.
Grinding Noise: This serious sound usually means the pads are completely worn, and the metal backing plate is grinding into the brake disc (rotor).
Pulling to One Side: Can indicate uneven brake pad wear, a seized caliper, or a blockage in the hydraulic line.
Soft or Spongy Pedal: The pedal feels mushy or drops too far, often signaling air or contamination in the brake fluid, or a hydraulic leak.
Vibration/Pulsing: Usually felt through the steering wheel or brake pedal and indicates warped brake discs (rotors).
Brake Warning Light: An illuminated dashboard brake light requires immediate professional attention.
